6th Annual Brigid Poetry Festival

I'm a little late to the party this year but inspiration struck last night and I had to share this.

Go to the community page on Facebook or pop over to Moonroot to see other great entries. :)

New Dawns

A single chirp in the darkness
Heralds the coming dawn
The cheerful sound carried far
In the clear and frosty morn

Somewhere beneath the flicker
of artificial light
A mother sighs, a young lamb cries
And struggles with all its might

The shepherd wait intently
His breath an icy cloud
While mother rests and babe protests
The simple sight profound

He feels the touch of ages
in that soulful bleat
His ancestor crowd behind him
A new life they will meet

The chirp becomes a chorus
As the sap begins to rise
The Imbolc sun brings to him
Spring's unfurling reprise.

Ooh, thank you for the mention!
Also, love the poem. It mirrors my thoughts today... :-)

Thank you so much for the feedback. I agree with the first option. It has been used way too much. XD

Gah. I love all of them to be honest. I can't decide which one I like best! -_-

Haha No, I don't think you can be too old to read YA. Weren't hoards of mothers reading Twilight after all?

Take it easy,
